Good point… then I guess what bugs me is the queen. They hint at her being a complicated character, with a complicated past, the part with her father is heartbreaking, and I wish they would show that more. Lately she’s just been hokey evil to me, and I’d like to see her be…

i agree whole-heartedly on that point. that bit with her father tore me up haha. and i really love the moments when you can see her feeling pain and uncertainty? like when the void shows?

i think she is a little overplayed as a villain, but at the same time i think it’s too soon for her to show any real change yet and since she did, in essence, give up her heart, it’s kind of understandable?

but i am very interested to know what happened to her

and also a little confused about just how much she knows/remembers?

up until the bit with the huntsman’s heart i thought she didn’t have any memories/knowledge, but i’m starting to think she might have some?? because when she first learned about the story thing in the first episode she seemed really worried? like more so than normal?

yeah, herondales reposts like edits and gifs and stuff from the show, but they’re the only one on my dash…. who watches it i think….

As the show progresses I think it gets kind of … frustrating. Nothing really happens in the “real world” that progresses the story, and Emma’s relationship with Henry really puts an awkward spin on adoptive parents and whatnot.

oh i’m actually caught up! i had a day off yesterday so i binged….

and i actually really like her relationship with henry?

because it’s very uncertain. she doesn’t know how to handle suddenly having him in her life. and she doesn’t know how to let him go. and she’s not really sure what’s best for him, she just knows that if she leaves he won’t be happy in his situation.

it’s also a pretty nice take on the traditional fairytale motifs of the “evil stepmother” and of the lost parent who returns, which are both very common. only, in fairytales, there is no uncertainty. the true parent returns and all is forgiven, but the show is making redemption (or whatever better word you’d like to use) less certain and less easy.

because i watched it yesterday and OH MY GOD i love it

i mean i am pretty disappointed that pretty much everyone except Sydney is white, but otherwise i think most everything is pretty cleverly handled!
