okay so in this im going to go p much step by step in how i draw hair like this

i just want to preface this saying that it isnt necessarily the RIGHT way to draw hair, it doesnt necessarily follow the rules of hair or whatever, it’s just how i draw hair, usually in water or blowing in the wind bc that’s probably what you guys wanted to know

first off, warm up your hand. drawing hair is a very fluid process and you can’t go in cold turkey

start w a face

on a separate layer, start sketching out your hair, starting with hair closest to the scalp

expand it. remember you want it to be flowy and loose.

lower the opacity and start inking

there’s ur face

now start inking the hair again, on a separate layer from the face, starting w the hair closest to the scalp

remember you want fluidity more than accuracy. your sketch will not match the final version because you want to keep it very loose and such

you get the basic idea! i would do more step by step commentary but tbh i just kind of wing it and go with what feels right. i also create a lot of dummy layers as i draw (meaning i’ll want to draw a certain strand of hair that will go through some others so i make a new layer, draw the lines, erase the parts out that conflict with my other hair, and then merge the layers)
